14-Year-Old Aaryan Shukla Sets Six Guinness World Records in Mental Math

For Aaryan Shukla, numbers are more than just figures—they are a way of life. This 14-year-old mathematical prodigy has recently taken the world by storm by setting six Guinness World Records in Dubai, proving his extraordinary ability to perform complex calculations at lightning speed.

Aaryan, a ninth-grade student at Delhi Public School in Nashik, India, has been honing his skills since the age of six. Dedicating two to three hours daily to mental math practice, he has secured victories in some of the most prestigious global competitions. He is a two-time champion of the Mental Calculation World Cup (MCWC) and has now accumulated six Guinness World Records to his name.

Breaking Records in Dubai

In his latest achievement, Aaryan demonstrated his unmatched numerical skills by setting six world records:

  • Fastest time to mentally add 100 four-digit numbers – 30.9 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally add 200 four-digit numbers – 1 minute 9.68 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers – 18.71 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally divide a 20-digit number by a 10-digit number (set of 10) – 5 minutes 42 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally multiply two five-digit numbers (set of 10) – 51.69 seconds
  • Fastest time to mentally multiply two eight-digit numbers (set of 10) – 2 minutes 35.41 seconds

A Passion for Numbers

Aaryan's love for mathematics has taken him to international competitions, where he has competed against participants of all ages. His journey to success began in 2022 when he won multiple medals at the Turkey Championship. Over the years, he has claimed titles at the Mind Sports Olympiad and the World Mental Calculation Championship, proving his dominance in the field.

He attributes his abilities to rigorous practice and advanced mental techniques, such as visualization, pattern recognition, and the abacus method. According to him, numbers appear as flashes in his mind, allowing him to process calculations almost instantly.

Balancing Training and Life

Despite his exceptional speed in mental math, Aaryan remains grounded. He balances his intense training with yoga, meditation, reading, and playing cricket. He emphasizes the importance of consistency and focus, acknowledging that even a momentary lapse in concentration can affect performance.

Supported by his parents, Aaryan dreams of promoting mental calculation skills worldwide. He aspires to inspire young minds to explore the wonders of mathematics and is considering a future career in mathematics or aerospace engineering.

“I want to show people the fun in numbers,” says Aaryan, hoping to motivate others to take on the challenge of mental math.
